Staff Report
NewsWest 9

ANDREWS/KERMIT - The Health and Human Services Commission is consolidating 50 offices statewide including two in the Permian Basin.

These offices are where people apply for several services including Medicaid and snap food benefits.

They are made up of 10 or less employees.

The offices being consolidated in the basin are in Andrews and Kermit.

Andrews has four employees and Kermit has three.

The consolidations for these two offices are scheduled for August 31.

Officials will work to place those employees at other offices.

State officials also tell NewsWest 9 as that date gets closer they'll provide information to those of you who use the Kermit and Andrews offices.

Clients can also apply for services online at www.yourtexasbenefits.com.

The state looked at several factors when it came to which offices to consolidate including client caseloads and the facility's costs and conditions.
