MIDLAND - A downtown Midland hotel is not only getting a new name but also a new look and the Downtown Midland Management District is chipping in.
On Thursday, the district gave the hotel $50,000 for renovations.
The total project is expected to take $4 million.
Rooms will be re-painted with more vibrant colors, and they'll get new drapes, lighting and artwork and a newly renovated bar is expected to draw in the nightlife.
The bar will be expanded into the south lobby to include billiards, shuffleboard and performances.
The bar will also be smoke-free.
The Hilton Midland Plaza will also be re-branded as a Doubletree.
With a whole new look, the hotel is hoping to draw more people into downtown.
