ODESSA-Illegal dumping in Ector County? There's an app for that. It's the newest high tech tool being used to catch the culprits.
"With the population increase due to the oil economy and the booming, we have seen a lot more dumping," Gino Solla with the Ector County Health Department, said.
More people are illegally dumping their junk on the roads and it's getting out of control.
Now the Ector County Environmental Enforcement needs the public's help.
"We're trying to make it easier on the public to report and communicate with us with today's technology so that they don't have to call and it be delayed," Solla said.
That is why they have rolled out with two apps to help catch these illegal dumpers. One is an Android App and the other is an iPhone App.
"The public can anonymously file a report of some dumping sites or dumping happening and we can monitor that and give them a response on what's happening with their complaint," Solla said. "This is a way for citizens to take a stake in the community and help us to help them. I think we all want a better Ector County," said Solla.
