ODESSA - One man has learned his fate after shooting at a state trooper in Odessa.

Marcus Lott, Jr., was sentenced to 99 years behind bars for the charge of attempted capital murder of a peace officer.

Back in May of 2011, Lott shot Trooper Max Honesto during a traffic stop on the interstate in Penwell.

The trooper had pulled over the car and asked the driver, Alfonso Butler, to get out.

After smelling pot, Honesto asked the two passengers to step out and that's when Lott shot him in the arm.

The trooper fired back but Lott and the other passenger, Ashlee Simpson, sped off hitting a DPS patrol car.

During a chase on I-20, troopers used spikes and fired at the suspects' car.

At some point, Lott was shot in the leg.

The car then crashed into a pipe fence near the Comanche Trail Pond.

They were arrested.

Lott had also pled guilty to marijuana, cocaine and evading arrest charges and received six years behind bars for those charges.
