ALPINE - After an outcry from residents, the City of Alpine is working towards a new ordinance that would ban K-2 in the city.
K-2 is an incense that people smoke, it mimics the effects of marijuana.
On Tuesday, the Council unanimously approved the first reading of a drafted ordinance.
The subject was first brought before the Council by Police Chief Russell Scown.
The Chief had received numerous calls from concerned parents after one teen was sent to the emergency room after smoking k-2.
As of now, there's only one shop in town that does sell the K-2 incense.
The final reading and vote will be held on May 2nd.
