A string of DWI arrests lands an Odessa man in prison.
Arturo Mendoza was sentenced to 100 years of jail time for leading police on a chase while driving drunk. However, he will serve the sentences concurrently so he will spend 50 years behind bars.
If that seems harsh, Mendoza has a long history of DWI's.
Before Tuesday's sentence, Mendoza had four felony DWI charges in the past and also served five different prison sentences.
His latest crime came to a crashing end in a field off Garden City Highway back in November of 2011.
Police say Mendoza hit the brakes at a stop sign and skidded into the pasture.
He was arrested on the spot.
We're told this all started when police tried to pull over Mendoza for a traffic stop.
But during the chase, Mendoza actually followed the rules of the road.
He actually stopped at stop signs and even used his signal light.
But once he hit the county, the chase hit speeds of up to 120 miles per hour.
