ODESSA - ECISD students want to help fill up food pantries but they need your help.
The "Cans for Kids" food drive began on Monday.
Cameron Elementary kicked off the drive with a ribbon cutting featuring Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors.
For the next two weeks, schools and individual departments will be competing to bring in the most canned goods.
Last year, the contest ended with over 18,000 pounds of food being donated to the West Texas Food Bank.
This year, they're hoping to beat that record.
Besides just doing a good deed, the students are given incentives to draw in the most food.
Prizes include X-Box Kinects, laptops and bikes.
The can food drive runs through April 13.
