Trying to pass a car led to a fatal wreck north of Rankin.
The crash happened on Highway 349.
We're told the driver of a pickup tried to pass a car in front of him.
That's when he noticed another pickup coming right at him.
Authorities' say he tried to dodge the oncoming truck by swerving into the bar ditch but came back onto the highway too early and was t-boned by the oncoming pickup.
He died in the crash.
The driver is identified as 25-year-old Jose Rolando Rodriguez, a jailer in Midland.
