HOWARD COUNTY - Inmates in Howard County will soon be treated for mental health issues.
On Monday, County Commissioners approved a contract with West Texas Centers for Mental Health Services.
Officials say a recent inmate was in dire need of medication and mental health services but there were no options for him.
Once you enter jail, standard mental help services are usually not offered.
The services will cost around $9,000.
That's not currently in the county's budget but the budget will be adjusted for next year.
