Texas Rangers Investigating Officer Involved Shooting in Odessa

ODESSA - The Texas Rangers are investigating after an officer involved shooting in Odessa.

Officials were called out to a man with a gun in the 2900 block of Tom Green around 7:45 p.m. Sunday night.

The man, identified as 55-year-old Raul Lara, was suicidal and kept threatening to shoot himself.

He was also waving the gun around so officials blocked off streets in the area to keep residents safe.

Officers on the scene tell NewsWest 9, shots were fired by police.

According to scanner traffic, the man had two gunshot wounds.

The man was taken to Medical Center Hospital where he later died.

No officers were injured in the shooting.
