ODESSA - A support group for families who have lost children has officially opened on Saturday in Odessa.
The group is called "The Compassionate Friends," an organization based in Illinois that has 600 chapters across the country.
It's a support group where families who have lost children can come and tell their stories surrounded by other families going through the same experience.
Chapters used to be open in midland and big spring but they closed.
Officials with the group said opening a new one in Odessa is essential for these grieving families.
For now the group opened at Big Daddy's Catfish in Odessa. However, the Odessa Veterans of Foreign War have agreed to donate their building to them.
They have not decided how often their meetings will be but they said all families are welcome.
