MIDLAND COUNTY - More calls for help poured into the Midland County Emergency Management office last year and the drought is to blame.

The majority of those calls were to report grassfires.

With our dry conditions, those calls jumped up more than 70 percent.

They were followed by an increase in calls for illegal dumping, structure fires and industrial accidents.

Coordinator Dale Little also credits the increased calls to more people moving into the Basin.
