Staff Report

Financial help will not be coming for a former Winkler County Attorney convicted of retaliation.

Scott Tidwell Winkler recently filed as an indigent, meaning he was too poor to afford the paperwork to file an appeal.

If Tidwell wanted to file an appeal for his conviction, he will have to pay the $11,000, instead of the county.

Tidwell petitioned the county on December 7th.

He said his household income of $4,500 was too little to support his appeal attempt.

Tidwell is accused of retaliating against two whistle blowing nurses.

He was sentenced to four months in jail, 10 years' probation, and a $6,000 fine.
