MIDLAND - It was a happy and emotional homecoming for one family at the Midland Airport.

Army Staff Sergeant Laura Springer Aguilera came home on Saturday from Kuwait for some rest and relaxation.

The Permian Basin Welcome Home Committee and Aguilera's family were waiting for her when she came into the terminal.

This was the first time the soldier had seen her son in six months and it's been a busy year for the mother.

She was a medic at Camp Kalsu in Iraq and was part of the last group to leave that base.

Aguilera's son has been staying with family during her deployment because Aguilera's husband is also serving overseas right now in Afghanistan.

Aguilera says she plans on spending lots of time with her son during the two weeks that she is here.

She's scheduled to finish the remainder of her tour in Kuwait.
