MIDLAND - After a soldier is caught carrying explosives through the Midland International Airport on New Year's Weekend, he's now been released on bond.

30-year-old Trey Atwater was released on a $50,000 unsecured bond.

He has been determined to not be a flight risk or a danger to the community and will be escorted back to Ft. Bragg, North Carolina by members of the U.S. Army.

You'll recall, NewsWest 9 learned from Representative Mike Conaway on Thursday, that Atwater had two 2.5 pound blocks of military grade explosives in his luggage causing the airport to be evacuated on New Year's Eve.

NewsWest 9 will have more details on this story coming up tonight on NewsWest 9 at 5 and 6 p.m.
