MIDLAND - The Midland International Airport was evacuated this morning after a person was found with explosives.
That person has been detained and is now in FBI custody, according to City of Midland spokesperson Tasa Watts.
Midland Police say military-grade explosives were found in a carry-on bag around 9:30 Saturday morning as it was sent through the security scanner at the TSA checkpoint. At that point, the airport was evacuated and the bomb squad was called.
NewsWest9 has also confirmed that the suspect is a man and active-duty military. The man was here visiting his mother.
The airport has been checked and reopened around 10:30 and operations have resumed as normal.
The FBI and TSA are now in charge of the investigation.
