Grady ISD Joins Lawsuit Against the State of Texas

The number of Texas school districts filing a lawsuit against the state continues to grow as the Grady Independent School District has added their school district to the list.

To recap, the lawsuit is being handled by the Texas School Coalition, which is made up of school districts that give property tax money back to the state under the so called "Robin Hood" school funding plan.

The districts argue that because the state is taxing at the maximum rate allowed, the school property tax has effectively become a statewide property tax.

Therefore, the taxing rate has become unconstitutional in Texas.

Grady ISD now follows the coalition along with 120 other property-wealthy school districts.
