Fireworks will not be lighting up the sky on New Years Eve in Howard County.
Commissioners made the ban official on Monday morning but it doesn't include all fireworks.
The only ones banned are ones that travel long distances such as rockets with fins or sticks, along with bottle rockets.
Commissioners also extended the burn ban on Monday for the next 90 days.
The dry vegetation is fuel to start a wildfire.
