Pecos County Voters to Decide on Tax for Regional Training Center

Staff Report

PECOS - On the ballot in Pecos County is a tax that would help keep the Regional Technical Training Center in Fort Stockton Operating.

That training center is operated by Midland College.

If approved by voters, the tax will be added to property taxes.

It helps pay for the maintenance and day to day operations of the Williams Center.

The Williams Regional Technical Training Center has been a part of Fort Stockton since 1996 but recent state budget cuts are hitting them hard.

On Tuesday, voters will decide on a branch maintenance tax that will be no more than a nickel a year for taxpayers.

If the school doesn't get the funding, jobs and programs are in danger of being slashed.
