LAS CRUCES - A Hobbs man has been sentenced to prison for failing to update his sex offender registration.
68-year-old Robert Walter Forster was sentenced to nearly 3 and a half years in prison Thursday in Las Cruces. He will serve a five year term of supervised release after he gets out.
Officials say Foster was required to register because of a conviction in 2000 out of Ohio. In 2009 he registered in Mesquite, New Mexico, but failed to update his address when he moved. He also never told authorities that he traveled to the Philippines for several weeks in 2010.
