Disabled people in West Texas now have a voice to champion their cause for equal rights.
The Texas Civil Rights Project and Legal Aid of North West Texas have joined forces.
They're making sure the disabled have access to not only things like buildings and restaurants but to legal help.
"West Texas disability rights program is the first one of its kind here in West Texas. They need to know that there is a law that is protecting their rights, as a person with a disability and businesses should be aware of it," Cynthia Lucero, paralegal with the Texas Civil Rights Project, said.
The program services are free of charge, but there are some eligibility requirements based on the federal poverty guidelines.
They'll ask you a couple of questions when you call and let you know if you qualify.
If you would like to learn more about the West Texas Disability Rights Program, They have a session scheduled this Friday in Odessa.
The session will be held at the Key West Senior Village Community Room at 2 p.m.
