Two Hobbs Men Arrested for Murder

HOBBS - New information on a body found in Andrews County on Wednesday.

NewsWest 9 has learned that discovery is linked to a murder investigation in Hobbs.

After doing some digging, NewsWest 9 was able to find out, not only the identity of the victim, but the two men who Hobbs Police say are responsible for his death.  We were also able to get the details of what lead to their arrest. 

Two Hobbs men have been arrested and charged with the murder of 38-year-old Reyes Manuel Frias Guerrero of Hobbs.  29-year-old Juan Carlos Ovalle and 37-year-old Salvador Ovalle, both of Hobbs, are being held in the Andrews County Jail. 

Guerrero's body was found Wednesday about 19 miles west of Andrews and has been sent to Dallas for autopsy.

According to reports, Andrews Police contacted detectives with the Hobbs Police Department after they found a vehicle, under suspicious circumstances, that led them to believe a crime had been committed,

In Hobbs. 24 hours later, one of Guerrero's family members filed a missing person's report on him.  After investigating, Hobbs Police found a crime scene at a home on the 700 block of north Cochran, the home of the Ovalles. 

Detectives then made a trip to Andrews to interview two men who were in custody on unrelated charges.

It was during those interviews that Juan Carlos and Salvador Ovalle confessed to killing Guerrero. 

Both men have been charged with murder and are currently in custody on one million dollar bond.
