CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) - A Hobbs man has been killed after authorities in Eddy County say he was crushed by a piece of oilfield equipment near White's City.
The Carlsbad Current Argus reports Eddy County Sheriff's Office deputies and investigators responded to an oilfield site located almost 6 miles southeast of White's City early Tuesday.
They found 53-year-old John Henry with serious injuries.
Investigators say Henry was crushed when a piece of oil field equipment he was standing near fell over, striking him.
Life-saving measures were reportedly initiated by others on the scene and emergency medical technicians were called to aid. Henry was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sheriff's investigators were called to the scene to investigate.
Henry's body has been sent to the Office of the Medical Investigator in Albuquerque for autopsy.
