MIDLAND - 9-11 memorials are going up across the country. Now a Midland School is creating their own memorial and the project's organizer isn't even old enough to remember the event.

14-year-old Jordan Weatherl spearheaded the memorial at Midland Classical Academy.

It's all part of a nationwide "9-11: Never Forget" project.

The display is made up of 2978 flags.

Each flag represents a victim of the 9-11 attacks.

The young coordinator says memorials like this are important especially for young people in order to remember the innocent lives that were lost.

"I think that it is instilling the spirit of our nation to help restore America. I think every time we have a memorial such as this, I think that it reminds us of all of what we are meant to do," Project Coordinator Jordan Weatherl, said.

The display is located in front of the campus at 5711 Whitman Drive.

It will be up until Sunday, September 11th, which is the 10th anniversary of the attacks.
