CARLSBAD, N.M. - A new container, used to ship radioactive waste, to a plant near Carlsbad arrived safely.
The government is using the box to move radioactive materials to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant.
The first one arrived safely this week.
The new container allows for bigger shipments instead of breaking them up into smaller loads.
Officials say it will help pick up the pace for cleaning up sites across the country and reduce the risk to workers at the same time.
The radioactive waste includes things like clothing, tools, rags, residues, soil, debris and other materials contaminated with plutonium or other hazardous chemicals.
