A well known leader in the Permian Basin is being remembered after he passed away earlier this week. Cy Wagner is known for his work in the oil industry as well as his generosity toward education.

Many in the community knew him as Cy Wagner, a man who they say was a leader and driving force for the growth of UTPB and the quality of life in the Basin.

His philanthropy stretched in helping to build the CEED Building which houses the UTPB Engineering program.

He also was instrumental in getting the plans for the Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center off of the ground and into the construction process. His commitment to higher education has helped to drive UTPB.

"He was a tremendous supporter of higher education in the area. Students will continue to benefit from Cy Wagner's marvelous generosity by attending events, concerts and plays in the Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center," UTPB President, Dr. David Watts, said.

The Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center is expected to be completed in the next few months.
