MIDLAND - The trial against a Midland man accused of killing a city sweeper began on Tuesday.

A jury was seated Monday in the case of 23-year-old Rashad Roy Bell.

Bell is accused of slamming into a street sweeper in October of last year.

34-year-old Ronnie Lee Randolph was thrown from the sweeper and crushed underneath it.

Bell allegedly ran a stop sign and hit the vehicle.

Police say he had just robbed a convenience store and was trying to get away.

He was even driving a stolen SUV.

Bell is being tried for a first degree felony charge of murder.
