Overall, the unemployment rate in Texas jumped to 8.4 percent.
That number is slightly up despite the state adding more than 29,000 jobs.
Locally, Midland is still seeing some of the lowest unemployment rates in the state at 5.1 percent.
In Ector County, unemployment dropped slightly to 6.8 percent.
The McAllen-Edinburg-Mission area saw the highest number at a little more than 13 percent.
