MIDLAND - A man has pleaded guilty to threatening to kill President Barack Obama to a Midland jury on Thursday morning.
Now 45-year-old Robert Frank Ackerman faces up to five years in federal prison for the comment.
The incident happened last May in Kermit.
Ackerman admitted an argument got heated over healthcare.
That's when he says he threatened to drive to Washington and murder the President.
Witnesses that heard the argument thought Ackerman had left town.
That prompted them to call Kermit Police, who then called the secret service.
Federal officials caught up with Ackerman in California while he was being detained for a bank robbery.
Sentencing has not been scheduled.
United States Attorney John Murphy says threats against the President are not taken lightly.
