A local organization that pairs families with soldiers overseas is gaining statewide attention.
"H.O.T." or "Honor Our Troops" started five years ago when the founder's son was deployed in Afghanistan.
They started mailing care packages to troops there.
Since then, it's grown rapidly.
Right now, they send 500 each month.
This fall, they're increasing that to 1,000 packages.
"We want to do everything we can to make sure they feel loved and feel like we're supporting them and we're behind them," Jim Laescher, who founded Honor Our Troops, said.
If you know a soldier who is need of some support, call (432) 550-2468.
