BIG SPRING - The Big Spring Economic Development Corporation this week approved two separate agreements with local industries, both energy related.

The E.D.C. Board approved an incentive agreement with Acme Energy/Big Dog Rig Movers, to take over operations at the old Amerimex Facility, which still owed about $900,000 on a previous agreement with the E.D.C.

The board approved an agreement with Big Dog where the company would assume the Amerimex agreement, paying half in cash ($450,000) and assuming the rest as an agreement with E.D.C. to meet payroll goals over the next five years.

Big Dog would probably employ about 50 workers at the Big Spring facility. The E.D.C. has sent the approved agreement to Big Dog and is awaiting their final approval.

The E.D.C. this week also approved a loan/incentive agreement with local company desert tanks, that is wanting to expand their facility. The agreement is an $800,000 loan from E.D.C. That would be part of a $1.3 million expansion of the Desert Tank facility at the Big Spring Air Park.

The company also expects to add about 26 more employees. The agreement is for 10 years, according to E.D.C. Executive Director Terry Wegman.
