
BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK - A fire burning in the Big Bend National Park is now 100 percent contained.
The Burro Canyon Fire was started last week by lightning on the southwest side of the park. It burned some 1,946 acres.
Another fire was also started by lightning and burned only 200 acres. Local crews and Los Diablos from Mexico fought the fires.
When it comes to a 911 call for emergency responders, every second counts. Right now, the City of Midland Fire and EMS average response time is about six minutes and 30 seconds. The target average response time is usually under five minutes and 35 seconds.
