MIDLAND COUNTY - Inmates at the Midland County Detention Center are packing up but they're not getting out of jail.
They're relocating to the new facility that was just finished.
Some new changes to the jail include laundry rooms and classrooms right inside the inmates dorms.
Sheriff Gary Painter says the jail's new design gives inmates better living space and allows guards to closely monitor everything they do.
The new facility is only for lower risk inmates.
High-risk prisoners will be placed in the old jail facility or in isolation, which is next to the new building on Main Street.
