The City of Big Spring announced on Tuesday that because residential water customers have been doing a great job of embracing water conservation measures in this severe drought period, the former once per week watering schedule is now a twice per week allowance for residential customers only.
The new watering schedule, effective immediately, is on Tuesday's, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Saturday's from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Commercial customers remain on the once per week watering schedule, which is Tuesday mornings from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.
City Manager Gary Fuqua presented the residential watering schedule upgrade to City Council Tuesday evening, though no vote was necessary.
The City Council has already given the City Manager the authority to make adjustments along the way as he sees fit.
