PECOS - An update on the City Manager search in Pecos.

Pecos Mayor Venetta Seals told NewsWest 9 that Frederico Reyes did take office on August first as Assistant City Manager.

As far as the City Manager position, Seals said they are back to square one with no potential candidates so far.

Police Chief Clay McKinney continues to serve as Interim City Manager after frontrunner Jim Aguilera was denied the job back near the end of July.

The City Council also made the decision to hire an Assistant City Manager and selected Frederico Reyes from Del Rio, Texas.

The selection comes after former Pecos City Manager Joseph Torres was found dead in his home from a gunshot wound at the end of March, the day after he was indicted for indecency with a child.

Pecos Police Chief Clay McKinney has served as Interim City Manager since then.
