A Midland man severely hurt in a drag racing accident is now recovering in a Lubbock hospital.
Over the weekend, Doug Meshirer was drag racing at Desert Thunder Raceway in Midland when his helmet flew up over his face, blocking his vision.
The car rolled several times, partially severing both of his arms.
This week, Doug was transferred to University Medical Center in Lubbock where he's listed in satisfactory condition.
Jimmy Farmer, the owner of the Raceway, says Doug underwent more surgery on Thursday.
He says he is expected to have another surgery in about seven weeks and is doing remarkably well.
