ODESSA - New information on the former Odessa principal who was accused of lying to Texas Rangers.

Jan Brown was supposed to go to trial on Friday but the case took an interesting turn on Wednesday.

Brown surprised everyone when she made a court appearance and plead guilty.

The former Barbara Jordan Elementary School principal was charged with lying to Texas Rangers during an investigation into the school's activity fund.

The Texas Rangers were called in after investigators found discrepancies in the fund.

Brown plead guilty and was given three months deferred adjudication.

That means if she stays out of trouble, the misdemeanor charge of lying to those investigators will be wiped off her record.

Brown was also ordered to pay a $2,000 fine and her teaching license was suspended.

If Brown violates her probation, the former school principal could face up to six months behind bars.
