MIDLAND - A Midland man turned a hospital visit into a trip to jail.

Police were called out to Midland Memorial Hospital for a patient who was out of control.

36-year-old Bobby Houston was being treated at the hospital after having a seizure.

Officers were called into to help calm the man.

Police say Houston violently ripped out his IV and blood spread everywhere.

He and the officers got into a scuffle before he could be arrested.

According to the affidavit, Houston threatened one of the officers and kept shouting that he "kills cops for free."

He's been charged with two felony charges for retaliation and assaulting a public servant.
