Clay Fire in Howard County 80 Percent Contained

HOWARD COUNTY - Crews are gaining the upper hand on the Clay Fire which has been burning in Howard County for the past couple of days.

The fire is 80 percent contained.

The fire broke out Tuesday near Forsan along FM 281.

Investigators say the flames sparked up when an electric power line failed.

So far, the fire has burned about 5,000 acres.

No homes or oil field equipment have been affected.

Howard County Fire Chief Tommy Sullivan says it could be another four to five days until the fire is completely out.
