PECOS - The city of Pecos is sitting between a rock and a hard place after hiring a city manager with a shaky past.
On Wednesday night, the City Council hired a new City Manager, Jim Aguilera.
It was supposed to be a happy occasion but questions about Aguilera's past began to surface
Turns out Aguilera was arrested on bribery charges 12 years ago while working in California.
A Pecos city newspaper learned of the charges and reported them.
Pecos City Mayor Venetta Seals tells NewsWest 9, Aguilera was originally charged with facilitating a bribe but it was downgraded to a misdemeanor and was later taken off his record.
Aguilera's background check only covered the State of Texas but it still wouldn't have showed up because the incident was expunged.
