Charges Upgraded Against Father Accused of Shooting His Own Son

A Greenwood man accused of shooting his son will be charged with murder.

William Earl Stirman's charges are being upgraded. He'll be arraigned on murder charges on Wednesday.

He allegedly shot his son 18-year-old Eric Stirman in the head on Sunday morning.

Eric was pronounced clinically brain dead at the hospital and died around 6 p.m. Monday night.

The father says his son pulled a knife on him and he was acting in self-defense.

Stirman remains behind bars at the Midland County Detention Center.
