GREENWOOD - A Greenwood teenager in the hospital after being shot allegedly by his own father.

18-year-old William Eric Stirman was transported to Midland Memorial hospital after allegedly being shot by his father 43-year-old William Earl Stirman.

Officers were called out to the 1600 block of south county road 1120, early Sunday morning.

The teen had been shot in the forehead with a .22 caliber weapon.

Eric was pronounced clinically brain dead when he arrived to the hospital.

Around 5:45 p.m. Monday night, William Eric Stirman passed away.

William Stirman is behind bars at the Midland County Detention Center. He's charged with aggravated assault on a family member causing serious bodily injury.

He claims his son threatened him with a knife and he fired in self-defense.

The investigation is ongoing.
