NEAR BIG SPRING - A piping failure near Big Spring caused a big mess on Sunday afternoon.
However, crews said it could have been a lot worse.
It happened on a ranch on north FM 820, seven miles north of Coahoma.
Howard County Volunteer Fire Chief Tommy Sullivan tells NewsWest 9, the well head overpressured the line, blowing oil and gas all over the place.
Sullivan says they were able to get the well head locked back in quickly.
Sullivan said the failure could have started a large grassfire.
