MITCHELL COUNTY – Another fireworks ban is in the works, this time for Colorado City.

The dangerously dry conditions forced Mitchell County to submit an extended declaration ban to the Governor.

That would ban the use, sale and possession of fireworks until after July fourth.

Right now, the county only has a 60 hour ban in affect.

Here's a list of counties that have already banned fireworks: Ector, Midland, Brewster, Howard, Presidio, Andrews, Ward, Upton, Winkler, Martin and Mitchell.

If you are caught, even with a sparkler, you're looking at a $500 fine for each firework.
