ODESSA - Police have just called off a manhunt in the Mission Dorado area.

Officers were trying to track down a man wanted for theft but he took off running.

Odessa Police say it all started when they responded to a call at the LaQuinta motel around 4:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

Police tried to take the suspect into custody for felony theft of service but he bolted, running south through the golf course off of Faudree Road.

NewsWest 9 crews saw about 10 police cars throughout the neighborhood and they were parked on every road.

After an hour, police called off their search and have decided to get a warrant for his arrest.

Police say they're looking for a black male, 6'2", wearing a red shirt and black shorts.

He was last seen running east through the golf course.

Police have not released the suspect's name at this time but we do know that a charge of felony theft of service involves a large amount of money.
