Fire Near Odessa Meteor Crater Burns 1,500 Acres

WEST ODESSA - An inferno erupted across I-20 in Odessa on Monday afternoon.

The fire sparked up just south of Meteor Crater exit.

The fire was put out just before 9 p.m. Monday night.

1,500 acres destroyed by the flames.

Goldsmith, West Odessa and south Ector County units were on the scene of the fire.

ONCOR officials were called to the scene to replace power poles that were destroyed by the blaze.

Authorities say the cause is still under investigation.
