ODESSA - For the first time, West Texans with disabilities will get help right here in the Basin.

A new office just opened their doors in Odessa.

Up until now, people with disabilities had to travel all the way to Austin for help.

The Texas Civil Rights Project Office has now set up shop on Andrews Highway.

It's part of the West Texas Disability Rights program.

It serves as the mediator between the handicap person and the establishment.

For example, if they don't have the proper ramps for a person in a wheel chair, the program makes sure that the establishment makes the proper changes.

If you have any questions about the program, you can contact their office at (432) 335-8500.
