MIDLAND - A Midland Police officer was severely bitten by a man on Monday morning.
Officers arrested 33-year-old Martin Quiroz.
Police were called to the man's home on east Pine Road early Monday morning.
Officers were met by Quiroz holding a butcher knife and a belt.
A scuffle broke out as they tried to get the knife away from him.
That's when Quiroz bit one of the officer's forearms and wouldn't let go, tearing away pieces of flesh.
Police had to use pepper spray to control Quiroz.
He's been charged with aggravated assault on a public servant.
The injured officer was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital to be checked out.
