ODESSA - An Odessa man is behind bars accused of assaulting a police officer with brass knuckles.

31-year-old Juan Mark Ponciano has been charged with aggravated assault of a peace officer.

Police were called out to the 4400 block of Conley Avenue for a loud music complaint early Tuesday morning.

As the officers drove down the street, they saw a man pointing a weapon at their vehicle.

That's when he fired a gun.
No officers were hit and no property was damaged.

At that time, Ponciano wasn't detained.

On a second call to the same home, Officer Jacob Wells was confronted by Ponciano who allegedly tried to hit him with brass knuckles.

After arresting the man, police identified Ponciano as the man who fired the gun.

He also faces felony charges for discharging a firearm.
