HOWARD COUNTY - Grassfires plagued the region again Monday as red flag warnings and calls to area fire departments were the rule.

In Howard County, the day had just gotten going when fire fighters were called out to a big grass fire Monday morning south of Big Spring, at the Glasscock / Howard County border, near county road 3.

The burned about 320 acres before being contained, according to Howard County Volunteer Fire Dept. Chief Tommy Sullivan.

Another fire erupted just south of Big Spring on Todd Road Monday afternoon, just north of Glory.

That fire was kept to just a few acres, but threatened some nearby homes.
